It was one of those amazing times when the world of super heroes and the real world cross. Science fiction and comic book enthusiasts helped to make Christmas a little bit merrier for over 150 kids.

Promoters of the The Sacramento Comic Book Convention (SACCON) and the United States Marine Corps Toys For Tots campaign is thanking convention antendees after receiving 176 toys during a Dec. 13th show.

“Our goal was 100 toys, but for us to get 176 is amazing,” said Jason Dube, an artist with Scattered Comics (found at scatteredcomics.com) and SACCON spokesperson.

Dube expressed his appreciation while out promoting Scattered Comics latest titles Waiting For Something to Happen #2 and Panda Days #3.

“It just goes to show the generiosity of people,” said Dube.

However, Dube was inspired by the amount of toys collected that he invited Toys For Tots to another event Scattered Studios is hosting along with the Sacramento Creators Group and Empire Comics in Sacramento, California on Saturday, Dec. 19.

“[Artists] from all three groups will be participating in a live art drawing and auction to help raise toys and proceeds to under privileged children and families in the Sacramento area,” said Dube.

He added, “Artists will be drawing as many Christmas themed pieces of artwork as they can with in a limited time period, during that time span people may bid on the artwork at the Empire Comic Store or individuals can watch artists and bid on their favorite pieces of art work online.”

While those viewing the artists “jam” (as Dube called it) live are encouraged to bring toys, internet viewers can see it by going to http://livestream.com/sccg.

Empire Comics is located at 2357 Arden Way, Sacramento, California 95825.

“One last thing, I wanted to personally thank CosmicBookNews for covering Scattered Comics, especially it’s charitable endeavors,” said Dube. “You guys have been great.”
